£20,000 to Help Local Women
Hearts' Jackie Owens saves Yvette Mummery over £70

In recognition of the tremendous life-enhancing benefits of regular exercise, Hearts Health Clubs have set aside £20,000 in a bid to get as many local women as possible active.
The money comes in the form of dramatically discounted membership fees. With the initial joining fee and monthly payment cut, this is a saving of around £70.
The list of serious illnesses and medical conditions which can be prevented or cured by a combination of regular exercise and a healthy diet is almost too good to be true. Many studies have taken place in the past few years which have shown that exercise can make a real difference in reducing your risks of contracting such life-threatening illnesses as Type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, heart disease, obesity and even some cancers.
Regular weight-bearing exercise in particular has been shown to act as a tremendous preventative to contracting osteoporosis. Many women suffer from this awful condition of weak and brittle bones. It can lead to frailty and a loss of independence in later life, as even mild falls can result in broken bones. But by placing a load on the skeleton, weight-bearing exercise has a strengthening effect on the bones which dramatically reduces the risk of contracting osteoporosis. This means that, with regular exercise, you really can work to improve the length and quality of your life.
“Exercise has so many benefits that it's a wonder that more women don't make it a big part of their routine,” said Debbie Jones, Hearts fitness manager. “As well as reducing stress and making you look and feel great, we're becoming increasingly aware of the incredible effects it has in preventing some of the most serious illnesses.
“We've introduced these discounts because we want as many women as possible to feel the benefits and make a positive difference to their lives. We've already helped thousands of women and we want to help many more. January is a great time to try something new, and our discount means that you don't have to worry about breaking the bank after an expensive Christmas.” With less than 300 opportunities available, the £20,000 is going fast, so act quickly to avoid disappointment.
Membership is open to any woman over the age of 16. The offer closes on 31 January 2012 and is based on a minimum 12 months membership. Terms and conditions apply.
